Montagne Noire gossans
Montagne Noire (Aude, Tarn), France
Other hydrothermalFe
- Type
- Gossans over sulfide mineralisation
Iron ores worked during Roman antiquity, formed by weathering of sulfides. Experimental smelting did not change the iron signature between ore, slag and metal, making it a possible provenance tracer.
